Meet the Core Team

St. Priscilla’s is blessed to have a wonderful team of adults who work on a weekly basis with our high school teens. Take a few moments to meet the team…

Lee Flaherty:  My husband, Tim, and I live in Livonia and have been members of St. Priscilla parish for about nine years. During that time, I have served two terms on the Parish Council and am currently the chairperson of the Council. I have been a lector and an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist for several years, and an adult volunteer with our Youth Group since last fall. I have also helped put on several of the Christ Renews His Parish weekends, and I volunteer in a number of small ways from time to time.

Outside of the parish, I’m a long-time member of the Christian Legal Society and the Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club, and I currently serve on the Boards of Directors of both these organizations. I also do occasional volunteer work for the AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center in Livonia. My favorite things to do in my free time are gardening, reading and relaxing on our patio.

Over the years, I’ve come to cherish my parish family at St. Priscilla. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of so many good things going on in our parish, but one of the things I love most is being with the teens. Thank you, parents, for sharing them with me!

Joe Zeniewicz: I've been a member of this parish for over thirty years. At one time or another I've served on the parish council and most of the various committees. I taught religious ed for a few years and did the liturgy of the word with children for about 12 years. Outside of the parish I have worked with youth in various capacities from little league coach (17 years), scouting, Indian Guides and some tutoring and mentoring through the school system. The last time I worked with youth in this age group (high school) was when I was in service where I worked out high school youth program with the base Chaplin -- but that was a looooooong time ago! Since that time I've worked mostly with younger children. This will almost be like a new experience for me.

Carol Chronicle: I have been a Core Team member since November 2006. I am married and have two boys ages 22 & 25. Before becoming a Core member I volunteered my time teaching adults how to read at the Sienna Literacy Center at Bishop Borgess. I have always found immense pleasure being with young adults so it seemed clear to me to switch gears and join the youth ministry team. This is very fulfilling for me and has definitely helped me grow in my faith.

Carol Hoffman: I have been a core team member for almost a year now. My husband John and I live in Novi and are members of St James Parish. We have a 21-year-old son who is in his senior year at Michigan State University. I have been a Eucharistic minister for many years and more recently a wedding planner at St. James.

I first became involved at St. Priscilla’s when my brother, Jim, became pastor. Last summer my husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and renewed our wedding vows here at St. Priscilla’s.

I want to thank you for allowing me to be part of the parish and the teen group. I have enjoyed getting to know both the teens and the other core team members and I look forward to learning more from the teens this year.

Lisa Zajac: I am very excited about this year in Life Teen! I am on a team of Core Members who will plan the Service Nights this year. I look forward to working with all of the teens, giving of ourselves to those around us.

I have lived in Livonia for just over a year. I am a Nurse Practitioner at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, and I also hold an Adjunct Faculty nursing position at Madonna University. In my spare time, I like to spend times with my family and friends.

Mark Yokom: I came to St. Priscilla in 2005 after the closing of St. Agatha in Redford. In 2007 I completed RCIA and became Catholic. What a great joy to go to the Lord’s Table! As the youth are the future of the church, I am honored to volunteer in youth ministry in addition to serving on the parish council. My family consists of my wife Rosemary and our children Amy, Kelli and Matthew. My work keeps me busy in the golf industry as a Store Manager/Buyer in Livonia.

Jerilyn German Petersmark: I’ve been a member of St. Priscilla Parish for about 22 years and was first involved in the Religious Education program in 1995 when I was asked to teach First Eucharist preparation classes to 2nd grade children. I’ve also been a storyteller during Vacation Bible School, helped direct the Children’s Nativity Mass, and have taught sacrament preparation in our RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) program for the past six years.

Currently, I serve as president of the Livonia PTSA Council and am involved in activities throughout our community. My husband, Frank, and I have two adult children, Caitlin and Chris. It is so enriching for me to share my Catholic faith with our young parishioners.
